Elizabeth was my 2nd Great-Grandmother.

I don't know much about the family she came from but we are currently researching this mystery. Elizabeth may have been born in England as this is what is reflected on her death certificate. If you have any information on the EYLER family please contact me.

Elizabeth was married to Michael Morrett, Sr. on October 4th, 1834 in Churchtown, Cumberland Co., PA.

They had eight children together.

October 17, 1896
The Meriden Ledger

Grandma Morrett died on October 12, 1896, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G.W. Whaley, in Dearborne, MO, aged 79 year, 10 months, and one day. Elizabeth Eyler was born in Cumberland Co., PA, December 11, 1816. She was united in marriage at Churchtown, PA to Michael Morrett, on October 4, 1834. They came to Kansas in the spring of 1878, settling in Jefferson Co., where they spent the remainder of their days, the husband preceding her to the better land, July 10, 1893, after being afflicted with paralysis twelve years.

Grandma Morrett was a noble Christian woman, having been a consistent and active member of the church since she was 16 years of age. For years she suffered with pain in her side, but until three weeks ago was not aware of the presence of a tumorous cancer, which then began to rapidly develop. She was attended by two physcians, but nothing could be done to prolong her days, though she expressed the desire to again see her Meriden friends and neighbors.

The last sad rites were performed by the U.B. Church of this place, Tuesday at one o'clock by S.C. Coblentz, of Topeka. Seven children, among whom are Mrs. G.W. Whaley, of Dearborn.

Cause of death: Cancer
