The funeral was at 2PM at the Congregational church with Rev. W.N. Johnson providing the sermon. Mrs. David Platek rendered a very beautiful and appropriate solo. The GAR Woman's Relief Corp, American Legion, and Auxiliary of American Legion were represented.
Peter Kelly was a soldier in the Civil War winning for himself distinction. He was designated Corporal of 100 N.Y. Volunteers July 15, 1863 and was soon promoted to Sergeant and in March 1864 to 1st Lieutenant. He served 4 years and saw active service. As a citizen and a true and loyal American, this man's war record and peace time conduct stands out distinctly as something of which his family and this community can be justly proud. It was Mr. Kelly's good soldier record and being a good citizen, along with many other men of this type, that made possible the achievements of Lincoln.
