SWINDLE SERVICES PLANNED AT WINTERS

Winters - Funeral for M. F. Swindle, 88, will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Spill Memorial Chapel here with the Rev. B. T. Shoemake, First Baptist Church pastor, officiating. Assisting in the funeral will be the Rev. Orville Hendon, Sweetwater Baptist pastor. Burial will be in Hylton Cemetery.

Mr. Swindle died Monday noon in a Kerrville hospital where he had been hospitalized for five years. He was a retired railroad man and formerly lived in Shep and Hylton. Born Sept. 22, 1870 in Tennessee, he came to Texas as a boy. He wed Sara Jane Towery, who died in 1944.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Joe Dunnam of Winters, Mrs. U. B. Davis of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Frankie Edminson of Albany, Mrs. W. S. Brown of Sweetwater and Mrs. Zora Middleton of Lueders; a son, Charley Swindle of Bakersfield, Calif.; and a sister, Mrs. Mattie Howard of Abilene.

Note: Although this death certificate says Mr. Swindle was buried in Winters, Texas, a grave marker (double with his wife) is actually located at Hylton Cemetery (Nolan County), which is somewhat close to the Nolan County/Runnels County line. His obituary says he was buried at Hylton Cemetery. Perhaps the body was just "removed" to Winters for services.
