Born Aug. 27, 1942 in Festus, MO, he was a son of Curtis Andrew and Mary Leatha (Walton) Long.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he was self-employed as a global sales representative for OEM Manufacturers for many years. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus in Alton, and Holy Angels Catholic Church in Wood River. He also loved to travel the world and play poker for fun.
He married Eileen Loraine Parrott on Apr. 13, 1964, a teacher at St. Kevin's School. They shared nearly 52 years of marriage before his passing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, William Alen Long of Rosewood Heights, IL; 2 daughters, Christine Gail Long of Chicago, IL and Kimberly Anne Long of Los Angeles, CA and his siblings, Dr. Curtis Long of Butler, MO, Lowell Long of Marlow, OK and Carol Sturdevant of Humboldt, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Anthony Gray.
