Andrew Patrick Ellis is the son of William Benjamin and Mary Ann Boatman Ellis. He was born at Plunk (near Dawson), Wright co., Mo. He married Ida Elizabeth Watson Nov. 29, 1905 in Plunk, Wright co., Mo. They had five children: Arthur Eugene, Mabel Loretta, Iva Eunice, Beulah May, and Zula Fay Ellis.

At the time of the 1900 U.S. Census for Van Buren township, Wright county, Missouri, Andrew P. Ellis, age 33 and single was living with his 75 year old father Benjamin and Benjamin's granddaughter, Rachel Wiles.

Andrew P. Ellis and his wife Ida were found in 1910 at the time of the U.S. Census living in Van Buren township, Wright county, Missouri. This was Andrew's first marriage and Ida's second, they had been married four years as of 29 April 1910. Ida was the mother of four, all four were living at the time of enumeration. Besides their three children, Columbus Ellis, Andrew's step-son was also living in the home. Andrew was engaged in general farming his farm on which he held a mortgage.
