Friendship of long standing between Adam Klein and Adam Lauber, Two Rivers men, ended late last night when death claimed Mr. Lauber at St. Mary’s hospital in Milwaukee. The two were neighbors in Quartzhausen, Germany, emigrated to Two Rivers together in 1884. They had been constant companions throughout all the following years. Mr. Lauber celebrated his 72nd birthday June 5. He was for 43 years a cabinet maker at the Hamilton Manufacturing company.

His death followed three years of ill health, the last seven weeks of which were spent in the Milwaukee hospital. Klein had visited him only the day before.

Lauber and Klein went directly to Two Rivers from Germany. For a few years they operated a farm in the town of Two Rivers and later moved to the city.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30 from the home at 2213 Washington street and at 2 o’clock from St. John’s Lutheran church with the Rev. W. G. Haase officiating. The body may be viewed at the Klein and Stangel funeral home tomorrow and tomorrow night will be taken to the home. Interment will be in Pioneers’ Rest cemetery.

Survivors are the widow, the former Emma Mandel; three daughters, Mrs. Walter Celle of Two Rivers, Mrs. William Elber and Mrs. Arthur Adler, both of Milwaukee; and one son, Carl, also of Milwaukee. One brother in Germany also survives. Two wives, the former Bertha Kuehl and Johanna Sieker, preceded Mr. Lauber in death.
