Alvin J. Buchholz, age 80 of Stanton passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 6, 2016.

Al was born on February 11, 1936 in Stanton the son of Frederick & Mary (Crawford) Buchholz and they have preceded him in death along with his stepfather, Edson Conroy; brother, Laverne Buchholz; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Leo & Minnie Swartz, brothers-in-law, Jim Garvey and Thorval Nielsen.

In May of 1955, Al married the love of his life, Patricia (Swartz) and she survives along with their children, Gailyn (Mike) Daggett of Portland, Craig (Lori) Buchholz of Sidney, Gary (Rhonda) Buchholz of Stanton and Curt (Karen) Buchholz of Cedar Springs; grandchildren, Craig Jr. (Sarah Bograd) Buchholz of Gulf Port, Mississippi, Kasey (Phil) Sheridan of Houston, Texas, Olivia (Brian) Blomstrom of Sheridan, Derek (Niki Workman) Buchholz of Sidney, Travis (Brittny) Buchholz of Stanton, Kristen (Sanford) Coston of Vestaburg, Trish Buchholz of Hudsonville, Chelsey (Ricky) Kellams of Lakeview, Jeremiah Buchholz of Houston, Texas, Misti (Kyle) Bresnahan of Greenville, Brandy (Gary Layton) Daggett of Colfax, Indiana, Dustin (Mandy) Daggett of Portland; sisters, Sharon Nielsen of Cedar Springs, Joyce (Richard) Johnson of Stanton, Lois Garvey of Greenville; brother, Otto (Marion) Buchholz of Stanton; 24 great grandchildren with one more on the way in May. Al is also survived by several nieces & nephews as well as many great and wonderful friends.

Al was retired from the Montcalm County Road Commission and was a current member of the Stanton First Congregational Church. He was also a past member of the Montcalm County Sheriff's Posse, West Michigan Draft Horse Club, Stanton Jaycees and the Montcalm County 4-H Fair. Al was a wonderful husband, great dad and awesome grandpa. He really liked sports, but especially loved watching all of his kids and grandkids sporting events throughout the years. His horses, Jake & Dolly held a special place in his heart as did his John Deere B tractor. Al is going to be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation with Al's family will be on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 9-11 AM at the First Congregational Church in Stanton (305 N. Camburn Street, Stanton).

A memorial service for Al is scheduled for 11 AM on Wednesday at the church with Pastor Jamey Nichols officiating. Final inurnment will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Langston.

For those wanting to make a memorial donation in Al's memory, the family has suggested donations be made to the Stanton First Congregational Church and envelopes will be available at the church.
