Woman Stricken In Street, Succumbs
Miss Emma M. Adams, 54, of 233 Gertrude Street, an employe of Gray Brothers Shoes, died today in St. Joseph’s Hospital, shortly after she was stricken ill in the 100 block of East Genesee Street. Coroner H. Ernest Gak said death was due to a heart attack.
Miss Adams was stricken ill while on the way to work and stopped in a cigar store at 101 East Genesee Street. She told the proprietor to call an ambulance. She died shortly after she was admitted to the hospital.

Funeral services for Miss Emma M. Adams, 53, of 233 Gertrude Street, who died Monday in St. Joseph’s Hospital, shortly after she was stricken ill in the 100 block of East Genesee Street, will be conducted at 9 A.M. Thursday at the home, and a half-hour later in Saint Vincent de Paul Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Miss Adams was on her way to work at the Gray Brothers Shoe Company, 314 South Franklin Street, when she was stricken. Coroner H. Ernest Gak said death was due to a heart attack. A native and life resident of Syracuse, she was a daughter of the late John B. and Emma Hamel Adams. She was a communicant of Saint Vincent de Paul Church. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. George Doty, and the Misses Sophia and Mary Ellen Adams, and four brother, Henry, George, Atlas and Arthur Adams.
