Kate Hollifield, 91, of Erwin, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2016 at her residence. She was a native of Unicoi County and was a daughter of the late David Walter and Sally Louise Taylor Foster. Kate worked at the Southern Pottery for 21 years and Industrial Garment for nine years. Ms. Hollifield was a charter member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Erwin where she was pianist for over 60 years, served as treasurer and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She loved her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Ed Hollifield, step son Lester Hollifield, and a son-in-law R.J. Whitson.

Kate Hollifield has left behind to cherish her memories: Son: Ricky Hollifield and wife, Tina of Unicoi, David Ed Hollifield and wife, Lisa of Erwin; Step Daughters: Rose Lee Whitson of Erwin, Brenda Calloway and husband, Jack of Erwin, Step Son: Richard Hollifield and wife, Ruthann of Unicoi; Granddaughter: Ashley Nicole Hollifield of Erwin; Great Grandson: Colbie Rogers; Several Step Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Kate Hollifield in a funeral service to be held at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, March 22, 2016 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Earl Ragland, Reverend Cas Horton and Reverend Charlie Foster will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 pm and will continue until service time on Tuesday at Valley Funeral Home. A committal service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Fishery Community Church Cemetery. Those who plan to attend will meet at Valley Funeral Home by 10:30 AM to go in procession to the cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Coy Faulkner, Douglas Staley, J.P. Street, Johnny Rogers, Tim Calloway, Tracy Hollifield, Jason Nelson, and Justin Honeycutt.
