Leonard Short, 83, Morristown, Ind., died Saturday, April 9, 1988, at Hancock Memorial Hospital in Greenfield, Ind. following a brief illness. Born March 16, 1905 in Campbellsville, he was the son of the late George M. and Vergie Acre Short. He retired from International Harvester in 1967 after 24 years as a machine operator. Short was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Campbellsville. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alma Richerson Short; a daughter, Marjorie Cheek, Crawfordsville, Ind.; three sons, George M. Short and Dallas Short, Greenfield, Ind., and Charles E. Short, Morristown, Ind.; three brothers, Thomas Short, Greenfield, Ind., John Short, New Palestine, Ind., and Floyd Short, Campbellsville; two sisters, Cordie Glasscock, Greenfield, Ind., and Della Hunt, Campbellsville; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The funeral was Tuesday, April 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the Hendryx Mortuary, New Palestine Chapel, with the Rev. Stanley Icenogle officiating. Burial was in the New Palestine Cemetery.
