Patricia Fay Manion died peacefully on Tuesday March 8th in her home at Bermuda Village in Advance, NC. She was 73 years old.
Pat was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina and graduated from Charlotte Catholic High School in 1960. After high school, she became an X-Ray technician, excelling in her profession which she thoroughly enjoyed, working initially at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte and ultimately at Greensboro Orthopedics. In 1978 Pat moved with her family to Columbus, Ohio and became a true member of the Buckeye nation, however, she always took pride in maintaining her North Carolina heritage and friendships. She was a founding member of the Columbus chapter of The Christ Child Society, an active member of the St. Peter parish in Worthington and served as President of the Parish Council. She was involved in the Welcome Wagon in Worthington, and served as President of the Worthington Hills Women's Club. She was an avid bridge player, like her brother Gene Manion, and enjoyed traveling, dancing, her faith and her family. She lived in Worthington Hills until the end of 2015 when an extended illness led her back to North Carolina to be near her true home.
Her faith and her family have always been of central importance to Pat. She was a carefree spirit and was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children, Jeanne Marie Foster and husband Ed Hunsinger of Lewisville, NC, Jennifer Daniels and husband Jeff Daniels of Morrisville, NC, Jeffrey McGurk of Chapel Hill, NC, Jessica Kidwell and husband Rob Kidwell of Alexandria, VA, her three grandchildren Jordan Daniels and Grace and Charlie Kidwell, her brother Thomas Manion of Charlotte, NC and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Pat had a knack for making friends everywhere she went and many of those friends truly became family such as James Freeman of Delaware, OH, Karen Frech of Columbus, OH, Linda Marsh of Sandwich, MA, Barbara Dellinger of Charlotte, NC, Francis Ryck of Charlotte, NC, as well of countless others whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her parents Michael and Mary Manion of Charlotte, NC, her brothers Eugene and Michael Manion of Charlotte, NC, her sister Mary Manion of Charlotte, NC and her grandson Noah Daniels of Morrisville, NC.
Family will welcome visitors and friends on Friday March 11th from 6p-8p at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Dilworth. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday March 12th at 11am at the Cathedral Church of St. Patrick, 1621 Dilworth Road East with interment following in Sharon Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please honor Patricia by donating to either The Humane Society of the United States www.humanesociety.org or the Columbus Chapter of The Christ Child Society www.christchildsociety.org so that her passing may help support the organizations she cared about so much.
