Ruth Bogdon Lacek, 95, of Plymouth passed away Sunday, March 6, 2016, at Celtic Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Plymouth on March 24, 1920, she was the first child of Martha and John Bogdon (Bagzunas). A 1938 graduate of Plymouth High School, she continued on to Wilkes-Barre Beauty College and was a self-employed beautician for much of her adult life.

In 1948 she married Lt. Col. Gaise S. Lacek, USMC. They had two children, Gaise R. Lacek, Fernandina Beach, Fla.; and Christine L. Conyngham, Lehman.

Ruth took great interest in local history and was a collector of antiques. She loved to relate that she learned English from her neighborhood playmates, the children of Welsh miners, as her parents spoke primarily Lithuanian in the household. She and Gaise enjoyed going to their summer cottage on Myo Beach, Wyoming County, for many years. Ruth traveled to the Holy Land and to Lithuania, where she had the good fortune to meet second cousins. She was a longtime member of All Saints Parish and the Plymouth Historical Society.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gaise; sisters, Mary Bogdon Moss and Martha Bogdon Allardyce; and brother, Tony Bogdon.

She is survived by her brother, John Bogdon, Severna Park, Md., and his wife, Eleanor; son, Gaise and his wife, Marie; and daughter, Christine and her husband, Will. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Catherine Conyngham, Towson, Md.; David Conyngham, Anchorage, Alaska; Gaise Lacek and his wife, Jen Anne, North Wales; Rebecca Conyngham Weaver and her husband, Eric, West Redding, Conn.; Jessie Conyngham, New York City; and Victoria Lacek, West Chester; and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Victory Parish, Harveys Lake. Interment will be in St. Vincent's Cemetery, Larksville.

Arrangements are by Williams-Hagen Funeral Home Inc., 114 W. Main St., Plymouth. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Plymouth Historical Society, 115 Gaylord Ave., Plymouth, PA 18651.
