Early Life: Jeneveve was born October 12, 1917, in Pima, Arizona, to Edward Christian and Emma Romney Eyring. Jeneveve was a product of the times and of her family. She learned to work hard, appreciate beauty, enjoy simple pleasures, express gratitude and treasure family relationships. Education and achievement were highly valued by her family. She graduated from Gila Junior College in Thatcher, Arizona, and Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She then taught school for three years.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: On June 12, 1941, she married Grant Frank Layton in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They had nine children who were loved and nurtured in a home where the highest virtues were taught and lived. By nature, in conversation and by what she did, Jeneveve made every person feel they were the most important person to her. She was the embodiment of simple elegance and grace. Jeneveve and Grant served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Iowa Des Moines Mission from 1980 to 1981. Grant passed away in 2009. Jeneveve then lived with her children until the final year of her life when she continued to love others in a care facility. She influenced for good all those around her. Throughout her life, Jeneveve was a disciple of Christ; she unfailingly sought to follow the Savior by serving and loving others. Jeneveve Eyring Layton passed away March 8, 2016, in Bountiful, Utah. She was 98 years of age.
Survived By: Eight children: Rebecca (Bob) Thompson, Linda (Fred) Rose, Ron (Tammy) Layton, Ken (Kathleen) Layton, Ruth (Curtis) Huntzinger, Steve (Kristine) Layton, Catherine (Jeff) Wagner and Chris (Beverly) Layton; 35 grandchildren, 92 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
