Visitation for James Visser of Lynden will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Gillies Funeral Home. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Ten Mile Cemetery, followed by a funeral at 2 p.m. at Second Christian Reformed Church with the Revs. Rick Qualls and Dick Vriesman officiating.

Mr. Visser died Friday, May 1, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was 79.

Born Aug. 5, 1918, to William and Hattie Roosma Visser on the family's farm near Lynden, he was a lifelong Whatcom County resident.

He graduated from Lynden High School in 1936 and served in the U.S. Army during World War Il.

He married Myrna Oltman Feb. 8, 1945, at the Ten Mile Grange.

Mr. Visser began operating a dairy farm on Aldrich Road in 1946 and lived there until his death.

He was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church and enjoyed raising ducks and geese on a wildlife preserve on his property.
