Jerry Wayne Ellis
Jerry Wayne Ellis, Sr., 59, of 2319 Anthony Drive, died Saturday, June 21, in his home.
Mr. Ellis was a native of Reidsville and had lived in Durham most of his life. He was the son of the late Bunnie Matthew and Ethel Seagroves Ellis and was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired pipe welder with the AC Corporation. Mr. Ellis was a loving and devoted husband and father and was well-loved by his family. He was well-loved and appreciated by his friends and co-workers. We will always carry him in our hearts.
Surviving are his wife of 21 years, Edna Carroll Ellis; 5 sons, Anthony Stanley Ellis, Dwight Ellis, and Jeffrey Ellis, all of the home, and Jerry Ellis, Jr. and Connie Lee Ellis, both of Durham; 3 brothers, Joseph C. Ellis, of Kerr Lake, Connie L. Ellis and wife, Katie, of Virginia, and Claiborne E. Ellis and wife, Shirley, of Northside; 2 sisters, Cathy Strayhorn and husband, Jimmy, and Edna L. Ellis, both of Durham; and 1 granddaughter, Lauren Diana Ellis. He was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Moore.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. James Wise will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Triangle Hospice, 1804 W. Martin Luther King Pkwy., Suite 112, Durham NC 27707 or to Immanuel Holiness Church, PO Box 25014, Durham NC 27701.
