She put on Christ in baptism August 11, 1944. She was educated in the schools of Harper, and graduated high school in 1948. Doris married Vernon Whinery on March 8, 1951. They were married for 58 years, until Vernon’s death on June 1, 2009. Their godly marriage was a positive example to all who knew them.
Survivors include her four children: Angela Kitzmann of Kenosha, Laticia Murphey of Pleasant Prairie, and Alan Whinery and Arianne Diestelkamp, both of Kenosha; twelve grandchildren: Cy, and Joshua Kitzmann, Tessa Folk, Lacy-Ann Bluml, Luke, Ryan, Chad, and Amy Murphey, Sarah and Emily Whinery, and Luke and Joseph Diestelkamp; and ten great-grandchildren: Elise, Titus, Mason, Aaron, Dylan, Nathaniel, and Holly Murphey, and Hannah, Aubrey, and Brooke Kitzmann.
A visitation will be held Monday, March 7, 2016, at 11:00am at Proko Funeral Home Chapel, with memorial services to follow at 12:00 noon. Entombment will be private.
The family wishes to thank Jill Zoem of “Aurora At Home” (hospice) for her exceptional and compassionate care that was provided to Doris and her care-givers.
