Last Rites held for Mrs. Lula Loe of Quitman
Mrs. Lula Loe, an eighty-five year-old resident of Quitman, died on January 15, 1958, following a brief illness.
She came here from Florida when she was only a child and except for a few years had been in and around Quitman the rest of the time.
She was married to Frederick Eli Bond of this community and lived here until several years after his death in May, 1901. Their three children are: Mrs. O.M. Peters, of Quitman; Fred E. Bond, Jr. of Jonesboro; and Mrs. Reily J. Blalock, of West Monroe.
While still living in this community, she married Charlie Loe in 1907. Their four children are Mrs. A.R. Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio; Leon Loe of Silsbee, Texas; Mrs. Harold Barnard of Minden; and Arnold Loe of West Monroe.
Later the family moved to Oak Grove, and stayed there until Mr. Loe's death in 1915. After his death Mrs. Loe and her family moved back to Quitman, where she had lived ever since.
In 1935 when she was no longer able to stay alone, after all the children were married, she chose to make her home with Mr. and Mrs. O.M. Peters of Quitman, and after twenty-three years, was still living with them at the time of her death.
Survivors include her seven children, eighteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Friday, January 17, at the Quitman Baptist Church with the Reverends Wayne Carpenter, G. A. Morgan, and C. W. Aswell officiating.
Pallbearers were: Jack Bond, Harry Bond, Harold Bond, Douglas Bond, Aubrey Bond, and Cecil Waldrip. Interment was in the Antioch Cemetery.
