Mrs. Whipp was a resident of Lawtell. She was a graduate of New Iberia High School and S.L.I. in Lafayette, majoring in education. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of St. Bridget Church and Our Lady of Perpetual Help in New Iberia. She was a parishioner of St. Bridget Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Pilot Club, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and the St. Landry Parish Retired Teachers Association.
She was a teacher for 36 years, teaching in Delcambre, New Iberia High School and Opelousas High School. After her retirement, she was a volunteer at Lawtell Elementary School in the computer lab.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Austin Whipp, Sr.; her parents, Rene` and Emily Abadie Badeaux; one grandson, Roy Andrew Whipp II; and one great-grandson, Kevin Austin Lecompte.
She was survived by two sons, Edwin Whipp and wife Carol of New Iberia and Roy Whipp and wife Margie of Lawtell; two daughters, Ann Fruge and husband John of Kinder and Charlene Whipp and husband Xavier Stelly of Lewisburg; one sister, Yvonne B. Koch of New Iberia; 14 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
