Retired TSgt. Jackie "Jack" Lewis Blevins, 77, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2012, at Norman Veterans Center in Norman. Jack was born Oct. 9, 1934, in Graham to Oscar Houston and Zelda Mae Morgan Blevins.

He married Caroline Elizabeth Burgess on May 19, 1956. Jack was born Oct. 9, 1934, in Graham to Oscar Houston and Zelda Mae Morgan Blevins. He married Caroline Elizabeth Burgess on May 19, 1956. Jack entered the U.S. Air Force at the age of 16 and served his country with honor and loyalty for 21 years. Jack served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars and was stationed in many countries across the globe, including North Africa and Spain, as well as many bases stateside located in Indiana, Texas, California, Montana and Florida. Jack retired from the Air Force in 1973 as a tech sergeant in law enforcement and correctional supervisor and moved his family to Noble. Jack worked as a deputy sheriff for the Cleveland County Sheriff's Department and a correctional industrial supervisor for the Oklahoma State Department of Corrections before retiring.

Once retired, Jack and Caroline became "snow birds" and would travel to Arizona for the winters and eventually extended their travels to include much of the United States, Canada and New Mexico. Jack was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association and the American Legion Post No. 0184 in Moore and a past member of the Masonic Lodges in Glasgow, Mont., and Noble. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Norman Veterans Center for their assistance in Jack's care as well as the staff with Valir Hospice Health Care.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Lee Blevins; and many other friends and relatives.

Survivors include his wife, Caroline and their beloved dog, Ladd; his son, Richard and wife Debbie and their children Michael and Jonathan; his daughter, Margaret; his son, Robert and wife Lisa and their children Hailey and Conner, all of Noble; his brother, Jerry of Tulsa; and several relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a future date at the Norman Veterans Center.
