Mr. Leonard passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 76. Doyle Ray Leonard was born March 17, 1939 in Olustee, OK, to Grady and Odessa Leonard. He grew up in the Altus area where he attended Altus Public Schools. Doyle worked as a regional salesman for Waterman Irrigation in Garden City Kansas, a business owner in Gunnison, Colorado, and in the trucking industry in Elgin, Oklahoma.
Doyle loved family. He was outgoing and never met a stranger. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and attending the sporting events of his grandchildren. Doyle lived by three guiding principles: God’s greatest gift to us is our family, If you can find humor in the toughest situation you can laugh your way through it, and “Git Er Done”. Doyle’s greatest gift to his family was the gifts of love and laughter. He was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was married for 49 years to the love of his life the late Nedra Hurst Leonard. His family was his greatest pride and joy.
He is survived by his children; Dave and Susan Leonard of Elgin, Robert and Jessica Leonard of Elgin, John and Toni Kopp of Elgin, Kendall and Debbie Adler of Garden City Kansas, and David and Cheri Mahan of Athens, Texas; his grandchildren: Micah and Lisa Mahan, Lee and Megan Reynolds, Meredith Mahan, John Kopp III, Bryce and Angela Koehn, Christopher Adler, Madison Adler, Tanner Leonard, Hunter Leonard, Brylee Lathrom, Mason Leonard, and Maddox Leonard; his great-grandchildren: Landry, Cooper, and Deacon Mahan, Peyton Mahan, and Laney Kate Reynolds; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Robert Sweeney, Dr. Manal Robin-Hanna, and Dr. Aaron Trachte and their staffs for their amazing care and support of Doyle throughout his journey.
