CHARLES G STRONG SUCCUMBS AT 80.
Charles Green Strong, 80. Bonacker Ave, died 12:12 am, Tuesday at Mercy Hospital. He had been admitted ten days ago following an apparent heart attack but his passing is a shock to the relatives & many friends. A die-setter for many years for the American Can Co & the Fisher Can Co, Mr Strong followed those careers with carpentry for area contractors, retiring in 1955. He loved to fish & hunt. Gardening & flower raising were his hobbies in later years. He was born in Owsley Co, Ky, December 18, 1884, a son of Phillip & Fannie Freeman Strong. Following education in the schools of Owsley Co, he married Emily Morris there. She died in 1926. He married Laura Evans in Dayton in March 1928.
He leaves his wife, Mrs Laura Strong; two daughters, Mrs Vernon (Stella) McDaniel & Mrs Herman (Margaret) Sparks; a son, Kay Green Strong; three stepsons, Ferris, Kenneth, & Charles Pierson; a step-daughter, Mrs M H (Fannie) Wilson, four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; other relatives & many friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Emily Morris Strong in 1926; his parents; a daughter, Fannie Strong in 1926; a son, Roy Strong in 1936; & ten brothers & sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Thursday in the Webb Funeral Home, Hamilton, by Elder J G Willis, pastor of the Primitive Baptist Church of Hamilton. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call between 4 & 6 pm & 7 & 9 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
