I believe this gravestone says:

In
memory of
JOHN
On_y __n of (?Only son of?)
Thomas McElhenney _e_ (?Sen?)
Born February 17__
Died August 19, 1859
Aged 82 years & 8 months
(plus 4 lines of unreadable verse)

In the Early History of Old Hanover Church, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, by Rev. Thomas H. Robinson, D.D., published in 1878 by the Historical Society of Dauphin County, page 35, says a Thomas McElhenny was born Feb 1777 and died 19 Aug 1839.

Using an enlarged version of this photo taken Sep 2006, it clearly says JOHN at the top of the stone and probably says Only son of Thomas. The "5" in 1859 is clearly legible in the photo and does not resemble a 3. However the age 82 and 6 months works perfectly for Feb 1777 – Aug 1859. The rest of the data looks to be the same gravestone. A rubbing may confirm this data and the verse.

The Revolutionary War flag holder is likely for Thomas McElhenny, the father of John. John would have been too young if he was born in 1777.

There are other McElhennys buried here, including a Thomas, 1745 - 1829.
