Charles was born to John A. and Grace E. Yearwood Hunt on the 29th of January, 1942 at Talihina, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of nine children.

Charlie attended public schools in Talihina and was a member of the First Baptist Church. His activities in school included football and the band. After the 10th grade, he and his mother moved to Texas to live with his brother Bill. After his 1961 graduation from high school in McAllen, Texas, Charles attended Sam Houston State University at Huntsville, Texas, where he studied music.

In 1962 Charlie enlisted in the Navy where he received further education at the Navy School of Music in Washington, DC. He then served aboard aircraft carriers in the South China Seas during the war in Vietnam. Upon discharge from the Navy at Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1968 he continued music studies at the University of North Texas, Denton, Texas.

In 1971 he married Judith Giller in Denton, TX, and they had two sons, Randall and Jakob. Charles joined the Giller family business in Dallas, Texas, for a number of years before leaving to attempt other business ventures. Charles retired on disability after an on-the-job head injury.

Charles entered the Talihina Veterans Center in 2013 where he received excellent care.

Charles is survived by his sons Randall Harris Hunt, grandson Donavan Hunt, and Jakob Charles Hunt of Dallas, Texas, as well as their mother Judith Giller Hunt of Lewisville, Texas.

Charles is also survived by his brother Dr. William A. Hunt of Georgetown, TX, and his sister Kathryn Hunt Gilstrap Brod of McAlester, OK.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: John Arden Hunt and Ovid Lee (Mickey) Hunt, two half-brothers: Herbert Anderson Hunt and Alwin Howell Hunt, and four sisters: Grace Devota Hunt Burk Baker, Lela Frances Hunt Williams Hoagland Jaggers, Margaret Marie Hunt, and Joyce Romell Hunt McGee.
