Mae Kathryn Holman Bolles, daughter of Luke and Bertha Emma Finley Holman, was born April 9, 1914, near Orla, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, June 18, 2002, in Delmar Gardens Nursing Home, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, two months, and nine days.
On December 3, 1934, she was united in marriage to Vernon Mayfield Bolles, and together they shared fifty-four years before his passing on June 9, 1988.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Patricia Sue LeGate; a grandson, David Doke; a brother, Luke Holman; and three sisters, Artie Holman, Eva Moore, and Mary Grimes.
Mae is survived by her sister, Dorothy H. Buck, of Lebanon, Missouri; a son-in-law, John LeGate, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; a number of nieces and nephews; several cousins; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born in the Orla community, and was raised in the Orla and Lebanon area. She graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1931, and then attended Draughns Business College in Springfield. After she and Vernon were married, they made their home in St. Louis and lovingly raised their daughter. Throughout the years, Mae was a devoted and hardworking homemaker to her husband and family.
Mae was baptized at an early age into the Methodist faith and was a longtime active member of Marvin Park United Methodist Church in St. Louis.
In her spare time she enjoyed writing poetry, painting, and working in her garden. She also loved traveling with her husband and caring for her dog, "Bubby". Her family was very important to her and she was especially close to her daughter.
Mae will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and many friends.

A memorial has been established in honor of Mrs. Bolles for the Pathways Hospice, as well as the Lebanon Humane Society, the American Cancer Society, and the Holman Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund,Orla. These donations may be left at the funeral home, Holman-Howe Funeral Home, 320 S. Adams Avenue, Lebanon, MO. 65536.
