Funeral services for Mrs. Viola Crittenden Rodgers, 76, of Cullen, LA were held at 2pm Friday, December 19, 1997, at the Bailey Mortuary Chapel, with Rev. Sir Rupert Nichols officiating. Interment was in the Plain Dealing Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill.

Mrs. Rodgers, a native of Texarkana, TX, and a long-time resident of this area, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 1997 at the Springhill Medical Center following a long illness. She was a member of the Cotton Valley Assembly of God Church, and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas L. and Obie Nancy Crittenden; two sisters, Mattie Brown and Lorene Thomas; one brother, Nathan L. Crittenden, and a granddaughter, Pam Rodgers.

Survivors included her husband, Mr. George W. Rodgers, Sr. of Cullen, LA, to whom she was married on June 8, 1935 in Plain Dealing, LA; their children, Vera R. Craft of Plain Dealing, LA, George Rodgers, Jr. of Cleveland, TX, Obie R. Thompson of Cotton Valley, LA, Mary R. May of Vivian, LA, Robert Rodgers of Houston, TX, David Rodgers of Cullen, LA, and Kay R. Jarrett of Nacogdoches, TX; 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Juanita Wallace of Plain Dealing, LA, and a brother, Tommie Crittenden of Springhill, LA.
