Barbara Huntley-Hough Apperwhite was born August 17, 1947, to Sybil Huntley Chandler and the late Sandy “Johnny” Jones in Stanly County, N.C.
She was reared by the late Clifton and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Carpenter Hough.
She departed this life on Friday, October 4, 2013.
Mrs. Apperwhite died October 4, 2013, at her residence. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2013, in Shiloh Baptist Church, New London, with burial in Oak View Cemetery, New London. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
The oldest of seven children, Barbara attended Stanly County Schools and was a 1965 graduate of West Badin High School. She was employed with the Stanly County Health Department as an Accounting Technician and retired with 30 years of service.
Barbara married Carl D. Apperwhite, in 1966, and to this union two children were born: Kevin and Monica.
Left to cherish her memory in addition to her husband are: her daughter, Monica C. Apperwhite, Badin, N.C.; her son, Kevin M. Apperwhite, his fiancé, Dawn Perfetti, New London, N.C.; her mother, Sybil Chandler, Badin, N.C.; three sisters: Katherine J. Peoples, Badin, N.C., Anita C. Butler, New London, N.C. and Annette C. Grayer, Fayetteville, N.C.; three brothers: Marcelle Huntley, Charlotte, N.C., Dexter Chandler, Nova, Ohio and Sandy Jones, Plainfield, N.J.; an aunt, Marion H. Thompson, Union, N.J.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; seven brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
