INEZ MARIE BALSTER, age 104, of Wilmont, died Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at South Shore Care Center in Worthington. She was born August 1, 1916, in Wilmont, to Joseph and Clara (Schlichte) Bruns. At the age of one, Inez moved to St. Kilian with her family. She attended St. Kilian Catholic School. Before her marriage, she worked as a domestic helper at many homes in the area.
Inez married Leo G. Balster on February 1, 1943 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Wilmont. They lived on the family farm near Wilmont. The couple retired in 1982 and moved to Wilmont. Inez became a resident of South Shore Care Center in April of 2007.
She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Wilmont; the Catholic Daughters of America and the OLGC WCCW. Her greatest love was her faith in God and her family. Inez had a loving, kind and gentle spirit that touched all that she knew. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, her flowers and playing cards with family and friends.
Inez is survived by her five children, Marian (Joe) Hibma, Harris, IA; James (Marcie) Balster, Wilmont; Jane (Marc) Eldal, Omaha, NE; Carol (Vernon) Bell, Big Stone, SD; and Dale Balster, Brewster; twelve grandchildren, Joy (Jeremy) Pritchard, Nate (Sarah) Hibma, Julie (Patrick) Stanzel, Nick (Dondi) Hibma, Rachel Balster, Sarah Balster, Chad (Gretchen) Balster, Nick (Pam) Balster, Josie (Zan) Moore, Sam Eldal, Aaron (Sarah) Eldal and Emily (Nick) Rahfaldt; and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo on February 24, 2006; a daughter, Vivian Balster; and her siblings.
