Charles's boyhood was spent in Cumberland and Edgar counties.
In 1904 he was united in marriage to Sarah Elizabeth Strader of Greenup, Il, and to this union were born fourteen children, three infant sons preceded him in death.
In November 1946, he moved to 304 West 10th St. in Georgetown, Il. where before his death he was converted to the Lord in the last weeks of his illness.
Surviving with the wife are five sons: Milo (Florence) Bell of Oliver, Il., Clyde (Letha) Bell and Ervin (Lura) Bell of Georgetown, Il., Clarence (Monia) Bell of Brocton, Il., and Robert Bell of Greenup, Il; six daughters: Mrs. Mildred (Raymond) James of Greenup, Il., Mrs. Marjorie (Bernie) Houser of Rose Hill, Il., Miss Margaret Bell of Alton, Il., Mrs. Mabel (Samuel) Wilfong and Mrs. Minnie (Richard) Peavler of
Georgetown, Il., and Mrs. Mary Heath of Danville, Il.; thirty-five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, also two sisters, Mrs. Susie Bell Eveland of Greenup, Il., and Mrs. Minnie Eveland of Pascola, Missouri, and a host of friends mourn his passing.
Passed on beyond our mortal vision, but now the thought is robbed of gloom, within the Father's may mansions still dwelling in another room, the one whose going left us lonely is scaling heights undreamed of yore, and guided on by love's unfolding has gone upstairs and shut the doors.
