Mrs. Rowena Joiner, 85, of Rayville died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Christensen, near Rayville Tuesday night; without knowing that her husband, John S. Joiner, 92, had died the previous evening. Both were lifelong residents of Ray County.
Mr. And Mrs. Joiner were married in 1938, and lived together until poor health necessitated their separation. She had been at her daughter's home and he had been at a convalesent home in Excelsior Springs.
Mrs. Joiner was born October 13, 1866, the last of ten children of Samuel Colley of Virginia and Esther (O'Dell) Colley of Ray county.
She was married October 11, 1880 to John Shoemake, who died May 29, 1922.
She was married July 1, 1923 to Jess Lamarr, and after his death was married to John Joiner.
She was a member of the Crooked River Primitive Baptist Church.
Surviving are one son, Bert Shoemake of Marceline, MO; two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Hill of Rayville, MO; and Mrs. Martha Ellen Christensen of Richmond, MO; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning at Rayville Methodist Church. The Elder M.M. Shumate of Kansas City, will officiate, assisted by Elder Emerson McAfee (remainder of obituary is missing)
