Elton Sydney Aarestad, 82, Hillsboro, ND, [Oregon] died December 8, 2005.
He was born April 14, 1923, first son of John and Marie Aarestad, Sr., McHenry, ND. After serving in WWII, he graduated from UND and on November 14, 1948, married Judell Lien of Portland-Mayville. After graduation the pair moved to Alaska where Elton worked as an electrical lineman.
The couple traveled throughout the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Africa, and Western Europe.
Surviving Alaska's 1964 earthquake, Elton and family resettled in forest Grove, OR, where he worked as an electrical lineman, retiring in 1985 and later moved to Hillsboro, OR. Elton was an avid horseman, trophy hunter and builder of homes, log cabins, speedboats and grandfather clocks.
Survivors include his wife, Judy' three daughters and two sons-in-law; Jayne and Ted Wolski, Hillsboro, Elaine Aarestad, Hillsboro, Mary and Gary Nelson, Canoga Park, CA; five grandchildren; a brother, John Aarestad, McHenry, ND and an aunt, Olivia Miller, of Fargo.
Two brothers, Burton and Wesley Aarestad, preceded him in death.
