He was born Aug. 12, 1923, in Shelby County, the son of Leo and Justine (Ruhlman) Beyer. He married Roberta "Bertie" Beyer on Aug. 8, 1964, and she survives. Mr. Beyer is also survived by his sister, Rita Teal of Shelbyville; brother, Bill Beyer; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Stagge, Kate Roell, Helen Cord, Teresa Rafail and Gertrude Ariens; and brothers, Joe Beyer Sr. and Victor Beyer.
Mr. Beyer was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
He was a farmer and formerly worked at a meat locker in Milroy. He retired from the Shelby County Highway Department.
Mr. Beyer was a former 50 year member of the Eagles Aerie Lodge.
Private family services were observed. Interment was at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery in Shelby County. Services were entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
