He was a Retired Master Sergeant in the US Army. He was a master parachutist serving with the 82nd Airborne Division and the 7th Special Forces. He retired after proudly serving 22 years in the Army. He became a Realtor and owner of his own company along with his wife, Callie.
He continued to work and remain active. He served as Master of Creasy Proctor Masonic Lodge, President of the Cumberland County Shrine Club, Chancellor of the local Knights of Pythias, Grand Chancellor of the Grand Lodge of NC Knights of Pythias, and a member of New Bern Royal Order of Jesters. He was honored as Shiner of the Year in 1997 and again in 2015. He was past Mason of the Year and a Certified Lecturer for many years. He was also a Knight of the Year.
He loved the outdoors and helping others while expecting nothing in return. You could usually find him working outside or on a project, tending his garden, or walking his dog. He was kind and fair. His integrity and positive energy is the legacy he left behind. He was loved by many and will be missed by all whose lives he touched.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am Thurs. Feb. 4, 2016 in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park West with full military honors and masonic honors. The family will receive friends from 10-10:45 am prior to the service at the funeral home.
