Henry H. Groves was the son of Alison Groves (born c1810 in Maryland) and his wife, Cloe A. ? (born about 1817 in Maryland). He was apparently the first of their children born in Arkansas after they arrived from Alabama.
Henry H. Groves married on 21 December 1868 in Union County Arkansas to Martha Ruth Breazeal. She was the sister of Keturah A. Breazeal, the wife of Henry's older brother, John R. Groves. Henry and Martha Ruth followed her father across the state line into Union Parish Louisiana after their marriage, where he apparently helped work his father-in-law's farm near Spearsville.
Henry H. Groves died in the early 1870s, reportedly about 1873, leaving one son, William Andrew Groves.
