Adele Mazza, beloved family matriarch was a familiar figure in Montclair walking her pet dog, Blackjack. Adele Mazza (nee Cook), 69, of Montclair, N.J., formerly of Jersey City, N.J., passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Monday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Church, Montclair, with interment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair. Visiting will be held on Sunday, Jan. 31, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove St., Montclair, caggianomemorial.com.
Adele Mazza was born Nov. 7, 1946, in Jersey City, N.J. She was the daughter of Rosemary and Albert Cook and sister to Arlene Venezia and Albert Cook. Adele was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Stanley Mazza. She is survived by her sons, Michael and Frank Mazza; daughters-in-law, Dena and Amanda Mazza, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Grace Mazza (Gracie Bear), Payton (PJ) Mazza and Brooks Mazza (Brooksie Bear).
Adele Mazza received the greatest joy from making her loved ones happy. She lived for her family. Adele was a mother figure to everyone she graced with her love. Adele and the love of her life, Stanley, grew up in Jersey City and moved to Montclair in 1981 to raise their family. Adele and Stanley were the architects of a loving relationship and home which can be felt in the joy of their grandchildren. Adele's love for the family dog, Blackjack, rivaled the love she had for her children and grandchildren. Adele and Blackjack spent their days roaming the community of Montclair developing meaningful relationships with everyone they came in contact with.
