Allison Brush Granberry, 88, died on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at South Central Regional Medical Center.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 30 at First-Trinity Presbyterian Church. The family will receive visitors prior to the service at 1:00 in the Kirk House. Interment will be at Lake Park Cemetery following the service.

A life-long resident of Laurel, Mrs. Granberry was born on June 27, 1927, to Ione and A. G. Brush and was the youngest of their four daughters. She spent her childhood enjoying life in Laurel and summers on Langley Point on Biloxi’s Back Bay. Mrs. Granberry attended and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Southwestern at Memphis, now known as Rhodes College, where she was a member of Chi Omega. Following college, Mrs. Granberry returned to Laurel to work for her father at Mayhaw Canning Company.

On February 24, 1951, she married her childhood sweetheart, William Senton Granberry. Allison and Senton were blessed with a son and daughter, Bill and Allison. Mrs. Granberry was active with her children’s activities while Mr. Granberry was a banker with Richton Bank and Trust Company.

When the children were older, Mrs. Granberry joined her sister, Libby Stephens, Helen Clark, and Mary Nell Boyd in the ownership of Associated Travel Agency which continued until they sold the agency in 1993. Following Senton’s death in 1986, Mrs. Granberry joined Richton Bank and Trust and later became director and chairman of the board. At her death she was serving as vice chairman and director.

Mrs. Granberry was active in the community. She was a member and past president of the Laurel Garden Club and a member and past president of the Junior Auxiliary of Laurel. A life-long member of First-Trinity Presbyterian Church, she was elected elder and served on the Session.

Mrs. Granberry is survived by her son, William Senton Granberry, Jr. (Hermine) of Hattiesburg; daughter, Allison Lee Granberry of New York City; grandchildren Hermine Herring Granberry, Clara Jane Granberry, and William Senton Granberry III of Hattiesburg; nieces Clara Stephens Smith (Stover) and Bette Stephens Green (Bill), all of Laurel, Ione Ramsey Story of Denham Springs, La., Jane Ramsey Hodges (Roger) of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Ann Ramsey; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be George Bassi, Stevie Bateman, Peter Biglane, Ed Diket, Charlie Kent, and Chris Posey, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers are Tom Cloar, Stover Smith III, Billy Burle, Will Rudolf, Louis Crumbley, Tommy Goza, Clay Johnson, Charlie Windham, the Board of Directors of Richton Bank and Trust Company and the Session of First-Trinity Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made to First-Trinity Presbyterian Church.
