Edna Laurel McNatt was born June 18, 1923 at Foss, Oklahoma, the daughter of Kirk and Pearl (Rigney) Latimer and died September 12, 2006 in her home at Foss surrounded by family and friends and Granny's Nanny, Charlene Duncan.Laurel was raised on a farm south of Foss, she graduated from Foss High School in 1941 and attended business college in Elk City for two years. She married her high school sweetheart, J.R. McNatt, in September, 1942. When J.R. returned from the service they farmed and ranched southeast of Foss. Laurel worked as a clerk in the Foss Post Office and later was appointed Postmaster in 1964 by then President Lyndon B. Johnson where she served for 30 years. She was an active member of the Foss Baptist Church Willing Workers Club and was an ombudsman for nursing home residents. After retirement, she worked on the Washita County election board for several years. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren, traveling and shopping for shoes. She was married to J.R. for 59 years and he preceded her in death in 2001. She was also preceded by her parents and son-in-law, David Tierce. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Hall and husband, Larry, Foss; daughter, Marylin Tierce, Elk City, and a son, Jack Robert McNatt of Foss; her grandchildren Kevin Hall and wife Amber of Canute; Mechelle Hohnke and husband, Brad, of Foss; Rhonda Harris and husband, Jeff, of Foss. Her great grandchildren, Keisha, Matthew, Christopher, Kimberly & Dylan; her sister, Wenona Dunn and husband, Walter, of Georgetown, TX and a brother, R.C. and wife, Rita of Pharr, Texas. Funeral services for Edna Laurel McNatt will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 16, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Foss, Rev. Dean Derieg, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Page Cemetery under the direction of People's Co-operative Funeral Home, Lone Wolf. Viewing will be Saturday from 9:00 A.M. till service time at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Foss.
