HELPER – Margaret Barber De Rose, age 89, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Orem, on May 20, 2003.

She was the fourth of 14 children of Dominic and Jenny Madeline Barber. Margaret was born Sept. 17, 1913 in Salt Lake City. She married Dominic De Rose Sr., April 18, 1931 in Helper. They were married 64 years. Dominic passed away Sept. 19, 1995.

Member of the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Helper, where she was a past member of the Altar Society and was active until her illness.

She was a wonderful homemaker and cook, especially her peppers and pies.

Survived by children, Gilda (Joe) Elegante, Orem; Dominic (Carolyn) De Rose Jr., Farm-ington; seven grandchildren, Rick Elegante, Spring City; Brent Elegante, Orem; Lori Elegante, Irvine, Calif.; Diane (Scott) Watson, Midvale; Jon De Rose, James De Rose and Christopher De Rose, all of Farmington; nine great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Mayo, Salt Lake City, Francis Chido, Salt Lake City; Florence Oliver, Murray; Elaine (Walt) Kitterer, Salt Lake City; brothers, Bob (Darlene) Barber, Salt Lake City; Willie (Marge) Barber, Murray; John (Marsha) Barber, Salt Lake City; Nick (Nancy) Barber, Salt Lake City and sisters-in-laws Mary Barber and Sharlene Barber, both from Salt Lake City. She has several nieces and nephews who all loved their “Aunt Marg.” She also leaves two dear friends, Delma Dougherty and Irene Perri. Preceded in death by husband; parents; grandson, Michael Cole De Rose; brothers, Albert Barber and Gene Barber; sisters, Carmella Morondi, Emily Platt and Viola Hatton; three brothers-in-law, Joe Mayo, Joe Chido, and Frank Oliver.

The family would also like to thank all who cared for her, especially the Rocky Mountain Hospice, Ann and Sheila.

Funeral Mass Saturday, May 24, 10 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church, Helper. Vigil service Friday evening, 7 p.m., at the church in Helper. Family will be at the church Friday and Saturday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper, under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to St. Anthony Catholic Church or a favorite charity of your choice.
