Obituary from The Wasatch Wave (Heber, UT) - Friday, September 19, 1952:
The life of Jesse Whitaker Turner came to a quiet close in the Heber Hospital on the afternoon of Sunday, September 14, following a long illness.
Surviving Mrs. Turner's passing are her husband, Lowell Eugene Turner, Midway, a daughter, Mrs. Morris M. Smith (Donna Faye), Oakland, California; and a son, Charles Whitaker Turner, Brigham Young University student now residing in Midway. In addition, survivors include the following members of her immediate family: parents, Mr. and Mrs. O.A. Whitaker of North Hollywood, California; and seven brothers, Berlin Waite, William Ferrin, and Scott Merrill Whitaker, Midway; Wetzel Orson and John Milton Whitaker, Provo; Russel Owen and Lowell Dawn Whitaker, also of North Hollywood.
Born April 3, 1901 in Beaver, Mrs. Turner grew up in Utah. She lived for six years in Heber, attending public school here while her father taught music at the Wasatch High School. Later the family moved to Denver where Mrs. Turner, a talented singer and pianist, was active in music and dramatic circles, appearing on the stage there in numerous light operas.
She was wed to Mr. Turner on June 14, 1925 in the Salt Lake Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They later moved to the Los Angeles area where they lived for 25 years, eventually settling in Westwood. Mrs. Turner had been a resident of Midway since January when she and her husband became associated with The Homestead.
Prior to the illness which claimed her life, Mrs. Turner had been active in LDS Church affairs, and her work as chorister of the Beverly Hills Ward, and director of a ladies' choir there brought her widespread recognition throughout the state and church.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Midway Second Ward Chapel, with Bishop Elmer Kohler officiating. . . . President Nephi Probst dedicated the grave prior to Mrs. Turner's burial at the Midway Cemetery.
