Herrin - Carroll Berry, 75 died at 6:10 pm Friday, April 26, 1996 at his residence. Mr. Berry was the maintenance foreman for Pettibone Corp. in Chicago for 35 years. He was of the Baptist faith, a member of the Fin and Feather Club in Freeman Spur, American Legion, Herrin Eagles and a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home is in charge and burial will be in Herrin City Cemetery.
He was born on April 13, 1921 in Herrin to William and Gertrude (Bradley) Berry. He married Wanda Peters on December 28, 1950 in Osceola AR and she survives. Other survivors include 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Lenda and Audie Rains of Johnston City and Judith and Glen Leeper of Herrin, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, one sister and brother-in-law, Jaunnell and Herbert Wright of Ozark MO. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ricky Rains; parents, 3 brothers, Rex, James and William Berry; sister, Jewell Smith and 2 half brothers, Baily and David Appleton.
