Daunita E. (White) Ash, age 83, of Centerville, Iowa, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa.

She was born on May 12, 1932 in Caldwell Township, the daughter of Robert and Grace (Adams) Knott. Daunita received her education in the Exline Schools. She was united in marriage to Jesse White on June 19, 1949 in Chariton, Iowa and they were blessed with three children, Diane, Robert and Lynn. Jesse passed away on March 12, 1984. Daunita later married Dwayne E. Ash retired Air Force Master Sergeant on August 9, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Centerville.

Daunita actively sold cosmetics with Avon for over thirty years. She was also employed with Wal-Mart in Centerville for thirteen years. She spent many years working alongside her husband Jesse on the family farm.

Throughout her life Daunita enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Egg noodles, banana split dessert, and special K (funeral) bars were just a few of her famous dishes. A big highlight for Daunita was talking on the phone to family and friends. Dwayne and Daunita spent part of the year at their home in Oklahoma and part of the time in their home in Iowa after their wedding in Centerville. Dwayne and Daunita loved traveling throughout the United States in their motor home, especially trips to Arizona during the winter season. Daunita was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Centerville for sixty two years, and she was active in the New Life Church in Newalla Oklahoma for the last 12 years.

She is survived by her husband, Dwayne E. Ash of Centerville, Iowa; her three children, C. Diane (Brent) Constance of Independence, Missouri, Robert (Cindee) White of Centerville, and Lynn (Doug) Firkins of Centerville, Iowa; five step children, Cheryl (Gene-deceased) Havens of Eufaula, Oklahoma, Cindy (Bruce) Watkins of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Cara (Darin) Manson of Albia, Iowa, Gary Ash of Newalla, Oklahoma, and Terry (Daniel) Torres of Yukon, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren, Heather (Jacob) (Constance) Peckham of Centerville, Iowa, Thad Constance of Centerville, Iowa, Blake (Angela) White of Centerville, Iowa, Anthony (Chelsea) White of Centerville, Iowa, Joshua (Amanda Marie) White of Bloomfield, Iowa, Garrett (Amanda Jo) White of Centerville, Iowa, Andrea White of Centerville, Iowa, Megan (Justin) (Sebolt) Jedlicka of McCallsburg, Iowa, Rachel (Eric) (Firkins) Gooden of Des Moines, Iowa, Melanie (Adam) (Firkins) Currie of North Dakota, and Michael Firkins of Centerville, Iowa; twelve great grandchildren; three great grandchildren on the way; thirteen step grandchildren; seventeen step great grandchildren; two brothers, Kermit (Sandra) Knott of Seymour, Iowa and Roger(Ruth-deceased) Knott of Lake Placid, Florida; a sister, Berta Lee (Robert-deceased) (Knott) Eddy of Exline, Iowa and many nieces and nephews. Others that were close to Daunita's heart were her extra kids Karen Moore of Ottumwa, Mike Eddy of Minnesota, Lori Phillips of Tennessee and Marcia Foglesong of Centerville.

Daunita was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Jesse White; two brothers, Kenneth and Dwain Knott; and a great granddaughter, Elaina Marie White.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 22, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Centerville, Iowa with Pastor Lloyd Johnston officiating. A visitation will take place Thursday, January 21, 2016 with the family present from 5-8 PM at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville. Burial will follow the funeral service at Sharon Chapel Cemetery near Centerville. Memorials have been established to the Appanoose County 4H Foundation or the Centerville Athletic Booster Club and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 South 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
