Elsie J. Jones, 96, of Montrose, PA passed away, Friday, January 15, 2016 at Meadow View Senior Living Center, Montrose, PA. Born September 3, 1919 in Jessup Twp.,Susquehanna County, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Nellie [Brink] DeWitt. Her husband Searle E. Jones predeceased her.
She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Elaine & Robert Nealy of Montrose, PA, daughter-in-law, Diane (Pierson) Jones of Montrose, PA, a sister, Doris (DeWitt) Jones of Fairdale, PA, also grandchildren, Scott and Kristen[Nealy] Lunger, Mark and Kathy (Somers) Nealy, Tony and Wendy (Jones) Boryck, J.R. and Lori (Jones) Thomson, 9 Great-grandchildren, Keesha Lunger, Chelsea (Lunger) Maxey, Lance and Lacy Nealy, Paige and Madeline Borcyk, Ryan, Gracie, and Cara Thomson, and several nieces and nephews. A son, Ronald Jones, great-granddaughter, Jordan Thomson, a brother, Edgar Dewitt, and sisters, Ruth Barondeau and Grace Bailey, all predeceased her.
She was a member of Fairdale United Methodist Church. A 1939 graduate of the former Rush High School, She previously worked for the South Montrose and Montrose Hangar Factory. Also worked for four different owners of the Fairdale Store. She enjoyed Round and Square dancing, bowling, and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play softball, basketball and soccer. She loved all the holidays and took many, many pictures with her trusty Polaroid. Her Home was a safe haven for some of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to get off and on the bus. He door was always open to family and friends. Her family’s friends were always welcome on Sunday mornings to drop in for pancakes. She will be missed by all.
Services: 11 AM Wednesday, January 20th at Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, Inc., Montrose, PA
Visitation: Tuesday 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
