VALLEY --- Mr. LaFayette Atkinson 77, of Valley died Thursday, march 4, 1999, at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, march 10 at 2 p.m. at Hall Memorial C. M. E. Church in Valley with the Revs. C. K. Boswell, Eugene Cook and Bruce Alford officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Atkinson is survived by his children, Ms. Regina Atkinson, Cassandra (Willie M) Floyd, Calvin (Lynn S. )Atkinson and Kelvin (Tina) Williams, all of Lanett; Steve (Gail L.) Atkinson, Geraldine (Jimmy) Strickland, Linda (Clarence) Burton and Jimmy (Daisy) Winston, all of Valley, and Sammy Atkinson of Atlanta, Ga.; his sister, Helen Madden of Valley; his brother, Wallace Jones of Cleveland, Ohio; two nephews, Tyrone Madden of Valley, and Eddie Servant of Huntsville; his niece Gloria Patton of Valley; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.

Born Oct. 21, 1921, in Chambers County, Ala., Mr. Atkinson was a member of Hall Memorial C. M. E. Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie L. Atkinson. Mr. Atkinson was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Jet Social Club.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home in Valley.
