∼Hilton Amaker, 88, of Orangeburg, S.C. died peacefully on Friday, January 15, 2016 at his residence with his loving family at his side.
Born on August 31,1927,in North SC, he was the son of the late Fred David Amaker and Sallie Hair Amaker. He was self-employed as a welder and retired in Wilmington, NC, where he resided for many years, before returning to Orangeburg. Hilton was an accomplished pianist and banjo player. During his spare time,he enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by a daughter, Sallie Kemmerlin of Orangeburg; two sisters, Gladys Hallman (Bob) of Columbia, and Laverne Amaker (Nick) of St. Petersburg, FL; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren along with his beloved pet Honey Bun. He was predeceased by two sisters, and two brothers.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 (noon), January 30,2016,at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2740 Broughton Street, Orangeburg SC 29115.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Regency Hospice, 1890 St. Matthews Road, Orangeburg SC 29115.
