Monday Funeral For Vernon Lee
Funeral services will be held Mondy for Vernon Lee. 71-year-old retired oilfield roughneck who died Friday at 8 p.m. at Lea General Hospital.
Rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Mondy at Griffin Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. E. J. Price of Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Harry Lee, Lester Braswell, Henry Griffin, Leon Lyles, John Efird, Calvin Davidson and Joe Scott. Honarary pallbearers will be other members of the IOOF Lodge.
Lee's survivors are his widow, Ada. 710 North Thorp: three sons, Jack and Douglass Lee of Hobbs and Vernon Lee Jr. of Fairbanks, Alaska; two daughters, Mrs. Howard Coulston of Hobbs and Mrs. Joseph T. Pope of Albuquerque, a brother, Rufus Lee of Cleveland, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. Vergie Oxsheer of Nacogdoches, Tex. and Mrs. Lubbye Haltom of Cleveland Tex.: 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Lee was a veteran of World War II. and was a member of the IOOF Lodge in Lovington and the IOOF Encampment of Hobbs. He had lived in Hobbs and Lovington since 1944.
