Death of Mrs. Mary Costello

Mrs. Mary Costello, widow of Nicholas Costello, died at her home on Big Tree Street, Livonia, Friday, Oct. 31, 1952, after an illness of two and a half weeks. Her health had not been good, however, for the last two or three years.

Mrs. Costello was the daughter of the late Dennis and Ellen Toomey O'Neil and was born in Allen's Hill 75 years ago. In 1901 she married Mr. Costello. He died in 1947. Before coming to Livonia village 22 years ago, the family lived in Livonia Center for 13 years.

Mrs. Costello was a member of St. Michael's Church, Livonia Center, of the Altar Society of St. Michael's Church, and of Livonia Grange.

Surviving are three daughters, Miss Veronica Costello of Livonia, Mrs. Arthur Hollenbeck of Geneseo and Mrs. Eugene Huff of Livonia, one sister, Mrs. John Coogan of Rochester, four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 3, at the residence at 9 o'clock, and at St. Michael's Church at 9:30, with burial in St. Michael's Cemetery.

Notation: Mary's father, Dennis O'Neill was married twice, his first wife was her mother, Ellen (Toomey) O'Neil, his second wife (Mary's stepmother) was Mary (Maiden??) O'Neil.

Mary's parents, Dennis & Ellen (Toomey) O'Neil had 8 children, Mary was the youngest. These 7 older siblings, all biological children of Dennis & Ellen, predeceased Mary, Mrs. James (Alice B. O'Neil) O'Connell, Lewis O'Neil, Elizabeth "Lizzie" O'Neal, Henry O'Neil, Mrs. John (Helen R. O'Neil) Cleary, Frank & Raymond O'Neil.

Mrs. John (Catherine O'Neil) Coogan of Rochester, was a half sister, from her fathers second marriage.
