Washington County comprises the Marietta, OH Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Parkersburg-Marietta-Vienna, WV-OH Combined Statistical Area.
Various records show a variety of spellings of Ruth's surname including Curle, Carle, Carl, Carvel, and Carroll. It is presently not clear which, if any, of these is correct.
The 1850 census shows Ruth and William had two more daughters not listed below; Eliza was 16 at that time and Jeanett was 6/12 (i.e. six months old) on the 3rd of September 1850 when the census was taken. I believe both children died in the 1850s as they do not appear in the family's 1860 census record and I found no other record of them. In January 2021, I found on-line family trees that show Eliza S. died 19 August 1851 and Jeanett G. died 9 Oct 1855; however, I found no attached evidence to support these events or dates.
