Richard Rogers was born in Connecticut in 1779*, married Louisa Maynard in Connecticut, and came to Ohio in 1835, settling in Huntington Township, Lorain County. By trade he was a blacksmith, but after he came to Ohio gave his time to farming. He was a deacon in the Baptist Church, and in politics was a Republican.
