Emma Jean (Dowdy) Morris, 72, of Woodland Mills died Feb. 2, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with Bobby Stewart and Jeff Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. today. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Daniel Lyon and Chris Lyon, both of Union City, Alex Decker and Ryan Decker, both of Woodland Mills, Eric Decker, Jay Thomas and Todd Thomas, all of Jackson, and Josh Morris of Humboldt. Honorary pallbearers will be R.C. Crews, James Carl Hammond, Steve Jones, Mike True and Jim Wilbanks.
She was born Sept. 4, 1935, in Obion County, daughter of the late B.L. and Ila (Rainey) Dowdy. She married Edward F. Morris July 25, 1953. He survives. She was a homemaker and a member of Main Street Church of Christ in Troy.
Survivors also include four daughters and sons-in-law, Keeta and James Robert Burden of Union City, Darlene and Jeff Decker of Woodland Mills, Valeria and Jeff Thomas of Jackson and Jennifer and Clifford Lyon of Hesperia, Calif.; her son, Darrell Morris of Woodland Mills; four granddaughters, Amanda Burden of Union City, Brandi Sweatt of Rutherford, Elizabeth Lyon of Wiggons, Miss., and Ellen Lyon of Victorville, Calif.; eight great-grandchildren, Avery Decker and Bailey Decker, both of Woodland Mills, Preston Sweatt of Rutherford, Bryce Morris of Humboldt, Tristen Bond of Wiggons and Shane Lyon, Damien Lyon and Audrey Lyon, all of Union City; and her sister, Billie Drewey of Nashville.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Woodrooff and Erma Cutler.
