Bettie Sue (Calhoun) Jennings of New Bern, aged 73, died at Duke University Medical Center December 21, 2015 with her family at her side. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Jack Jennings. Sue was born in Greenville on April 20, 1942 to the late Bettie and John Calhoun. Sue lived her life in North Carolina and Virginia, retiring from civil service in the comptroller's office at Cherry Point. In addition to her devoted husband of 47 years, Jack, she was the loving mother of Jay Jennings and his wife Janelle of Charlottesville, VA. She was equally devoted to her two step-daughters, Debbie Crews and Pam Iler, both of Newport News, VA. She was the beloved sister of Pat Carman, Faye Bulow, and Kathy Calhoun, all of Ayden, NC. She loved nothing more than spoiling her grandson, Rory and her four step-grandchildren, Angela, Kelly, Chris, and Samantha; six step-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-grandson. In keeping with her love of the season, visitation and viewing, in lieu of a memorial service, will be held on Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24th 2015 from 2pm to 4pm at Cotten Funeral Home and Crematory, 2201 Neuse Boulevard, New Bern NC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the CarolinaEast Auxiliary Senior Adult Health Care Fund, 2007 B Neuse Boulevard, New Bern NC 28560.
