Sir John Allen, son of John and Margaret (Leigh) Allen. His parents, John Allen and Margaret Leigh had at least six children: John, Giles, Christopher, Catherine, Elizabeth, and Agnes.

Sir John married Lady Elizabeth Alabaster. One of four brasses in the Chancel of the parish church, is of John Allen, 1572, kneeling figure of a man in civilian dress and lady with children.
Brother of Edmund Allen, also buried here.

John Allen, son of John "the younger" Alleyne of Hatfield and Margaret Leigh, married Elizabeth Alabaster.
His father John "the younger" Alleyne of Hatfield had an older brother Sir John "the elder" Allen, who was Lord Mayor of London. They were both sons of Richard Alleyn of Thaxted. So, Sir John was this John's uncle, not his father. His father was not a knight, therefore not a "Sir"
